Silk Ball Gown and Sleeveless Open Robe

Project type

Sewing

This Regency style bib front trained gown and contrasting sleeveless trained open robe were made to be worn at the Jane Austen Festival's Masked Gala at the Roman Baths in Bath, England. Both are primarily machine sewn but have elements of hand stitching.

The gown is made using the Laughing Moon Mercantile #126 Pattern - Ladies' Round and Trained Gown With High Stomacher Front C. 1800 - 1810. The open robe is based on the same pattern but has been redrafted to form an open front and crossover closure.

Materials:
Gown: Dupioni silk, lace applique, twill tape inner ties and mother of pearl buttons

Open Robe: Dupioni silk, cotton (lining), gimp braid, hand-covered button, hook and eye attachments
